Social justice activist, author, journalist and commentator, Rev. Dr. Robert L. Maddox is the founding Executive Director of the Briggs Center since its creation in 2006.

Dr. Maddox spent much of his career as a minister, serving most recently at the Briggs Baptist Church and the Westmoreland Congregational United Church of Christ in Bethesda, MD.

Dr. Maddox also served as a speech writer and religious liaison for President Jimmy Carter and Executive Director of Americans United for Separation of Church and State.
